WATERLOGGED COCKERMOUTH FLOWER SHOP
BLOOMS AGAIN

A FLORIST made redundant after the 2009 floods has launched her own shop in the premises where she used to be employed.

Elizabeth Gibson, 43, of Mountain View, has opened Floral Boutique in the Market Place premises formerly occupied by Cottage Garden, where she worked for more than seven years.

Mrs Gibson, who has been in the floristry business for 10 years, managed the Cottage Garden for two years and said it had been a dream to open a shop of her own.

She will run it with former colleagues Val Brough and Joanne Bailey.

"We were told in late summer by the previous owner that we wouldn't be reopening so it seemed too good an opportunity not to have a go," she said.

"We came down immediately after the floods to clear everything and it was devastating so it is nice to see the shop up and running and that I have been able to put my own stamp on it. I wanted a shop that wasn't just a floristry but also offered gifts and accessories."
